This books is a scientific analysis and assessment on cities, the Cities Biodiversity Outlook (CBO), which was contracted by the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). This release is a follow up activity of the launch of the Summary for policy makers of the CBO at CBD COP11 in 2012 in Hyderabad, India.

The book was officially launched on October 4th in New York during the World Habitat Day celebration, and on October 10th in Brussels.

New-York launch (4th October): It was highlighted at a press conference during lunch time, and then in a panel discussion in the afternoon by Harini Nagendra, the lead author of the India and Bangalore assessment. Finally, an introduction of the CBO to the World Habitat Day participants by Thomas Elmqvist will conclude that day official programme.

Brussels launch (10th October): this launch took place during the European Week of Cities and Regions, Ms. Charlina Vitcheva will be representing the European Commission.
