agroBIODIVERSITY Highlights

Changes in biodiversity in the agricultural landscapes of the world have largely escaped attention compared to the wider recognition of biodiversity loss in less disturbed landscapes. Yet, agriculture is fundamentally linked to biodiversity since biodiversity has formed the basis for human food production systems for millennia.

Agrobiodiversity, as used here, refers to managed and unplanned biodiversity in agricultural ecosystems, which closely interact with wild biodiversity within the larger landscape matrix.

The agroBIODIVERSITY Cross-cutting Network of DIVERSITAS aims at inspiring and facilitating interdisciplinary research to understand the role of biological diversity in agricultural landscapes. This mission frames its scientific strategy.
