Release of APN Newsletter Volume 17, Issue 2 (June 2011)
- This issue highlights APN’s 16th IGM/SPG Meeting convened in Sri Lanka among other major APN activities. It also features a guest article by Carmen Scherkenbach from the International Human Dimensions Programme for Global Environmental Change (IHDP), on IHDP Executive Director Anantha Duraiappah’s new article on the future role of IPBES published in Science magazine.

Workshop : Building Resilience of Mountain Social-Ecological Systems to Global Change
- The Mountain Research Initiative will bring together a small number of experts on social-ecological research and coupled human-natural system modeling in mountain regions around the world to participate in a synthesis workshop, Building Resilience of Mountain Social-Ecological Systems to Global Change. Under the leadership of Julia Klein (Colorado State University) and Anne Nolin (Oregon State University), the workshop will take place in April or May 2012 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Request for Bids to Host the IMBER Open Science Meeting in 2014
- IMBER (Integrated Marine Biogeochemistry and Ecosystem Research) is planning an Ocean Science Meeting (OSM) for 2014. IMBER is requesting bids to host the OSM. Expected participation is between 250 and 500 people. Bids should be submitted by 1 October 2011
