bioGENESIS held a successful training workshop

This workshop on Evolutionary Approaches to Biodiversity Science (16-18 June 2012, Bonito, Brazil), organised jointly with ATBC2012, attracted 35 students coming from 9 countries

This training workshop "Evolutionary Approaches to Biodiversity Science" was held very successfully between the 16 and 18 June 2012 in Bonito, Brazil. It attracted an audience of 35 students coming from 9 countries and provided an outlook on some of the most relevant evolutionary approaches for the study of biodiversity. The workshop consisted of 12 lectures given by well-known experts, presented in four daily sessions, during three days. Each session included a lecture, followed by software demonstrations or a detailed description of a published illustrative study. The lectures exemplified the types of questions that can be addressed, including their general theoretical and methodological background, as well as basic practical examples. Detailed programme is available here.

The workshop was sponsored by ATBC2012, bioGENESIS, Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), Society of Systematic Biologists, Universidade de Sao Paulo, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM ), Universidade Federal de  Mato Grosso do Sul, University of Michigan, and the American Museum of Natural History (Department of Ornithology).
