Photography Competition: Seeing Science

Closing date: 1 November 2007

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) is inviting you to participate in their international photography competition! The competition is open to everyone – amateur and professional photographers alike – working or interested in science. The theme for this competition is ‘the magic of science’. What is the magic of (your) science for you? Details of nanoparticles or a picture illustrating a mass psychological experiment – no matter how big or small – we want to see it! The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences has set out this Seeing Science photography competition on its 200th anniversary (in 2008) to promote the communication of science, and more specifically the visualisation of the magic of science. The picture that captures the magic of science best wins.

The winners will receive a 1-year subscription to a magazine of their preference. The first prize winner will also be invited to an awards ceremony at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in Amsterdam in the last week of January 2008; travel expenses and accommodation costs will be covered.
