Assistantship / PhD position in species distribution modeling at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland
The Department of Ecology & Evolution (DEE) of the University of Lausanne is opening an Assistant position in predictive biogeography and spatial modelling. The successful candidate will conduct research to obtain a PhD degree and will have to teach practicals in spatial modelling. Competence in botany (local flora), predictive statistics and GIS will provide a clear advantage in getting the position. As sampling might be needed at high elevation sites, good hiking abilities will be required. The candidate will be integrated in the ECOSPAT team at DEE (http://ecospat.unil.ch), where s/he will work on predicting the response of plant biodiversity in the Swiss Western Alps to the combined effect of climate change and biological invasions. In this framework, s/he will likely have to develop interactions with other groups, within and outside DEE, to assess response of other groups (e.g. fauna) to global changes.
