5-6 September 2005, Kota Kinabalu, Borneo, Malaysia
Next Generation of Biodiversity Research - Meeting organised
by the DIVERSITAS Core Project ecoSERVICES
The workshop aims to stimulate a new round of research
on the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem
functioning. The 'Next Generation' meeting will be held
in the Hyatt Hotel in Kota Kinabalu, capital of Sabah,
North Borneo, Malaysia. We anticipate that the meeting
will generate, amongst other things, a review of the recent
developments in this area and a forward-look agenda-setting
paper.
Objective
There has now been more than a decade of active research
on the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem
functioning. Our aim is to assess whether we have resolved
most of the main issues or to identify the important new
questions that remain to be addressed and to develop a
research agenda for the next generation of studies.
Format
A workshop format with a restricted number of formal presentations
to allow plenty of time for discussion.
