ecoSERVICES helps define priorities for research under Future Earth

Participation of Berta Martin-Lopez, member of the SSC-ecoSERVICES

Berta Martin-Lopez, member of the Scientific Steering Committee of ecoSERVICES participated in the multi-stakeholder workshop designed to decide priorities for research under Future Earth. The workshop took place in Kyoto, Japan, on 19-20 May 2014. The aim was to develop the Strategic Research Agenda 2014 for Future Earth.

One the following day (May 21, 2014), Berta was also invited by the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature to give a presentation about ecosystem services research in the context of the 2nd Seminar on Future Earth in Asia. Her presentation was entitled "Ecosystem services assessments: dealing with complexity" and addressed the need for transdisciplinary research to tackle the complexity of ecosystem services and governance systems in issues related to biodiversity conservation and human well-being.
