TRY - a global database of plant traits to promote biodiversity research and Earth system sciences.

The world’s largest database on plant traits, TRY, has been published, following an international collaborative effort. TRY is an ongoing cooperation of 198 vegetation scientists from 106 institutions. So far the initiative has unified 93 separate databases, bringing together traits for more than 20% of all plant species worldwide. The TRY database, hosted at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Jena, Germany, is expected to become an essential tool for biodiversity research and vegetation modelling.
