Eco-Evol workshop of bioGENESIS & bioDISCOVERY: Improving models of species rangeshifts

The 4th joint workshop of the Eco-Evol initiative of bioDISCOVERY and bioGENESIS at the sDIV in Leipzig was a success - participants found it stimulating, and were excited about the prospects of further collaborations focused on integrating theory, experiments and models of species range shifts under climate change.

The workshop of the initiative "Eco-Evol: Eco-evolutionary approaches to understanding and predicting the response of species and ecosystems to climate change", jointly co-ordinated by bioGENESIS and bioDISCOVERY, was hosted by sDIV, the Synthesis Centre of the German Centre for Integrated Biodiversity Research (iDIV). sDIV provided an inspiring environment for intense discussions and the development of new collaborations.

The workshop was aimed a increasing the understanding of species range shift responses to environmental change by synthesising current ecological and evolutionary knowledge, and integrating this in the modelling platform "RangeShifter".
