European Alliance
European Alliance of Global Change Research Committees
The European Alliance of Global Change Research Committees is a bottom up association of members of the National Committees (NC) of the four international global environmental change programs (IHDP, DIVERSITAS, IGBP, WCRP). Based on the understanding that the Earth system is a coupled system of natural and human components, the European Alliance:
- wishes to focus on specific European problems that arise from global change.
- provides a platform for an integrated approach to Global Change research linking the international GEC research programs (WCRP, IGBP, IHDP, DIVERSITAS) and ESSP.
- aims to promoting and supporting global change research on a European level.
In 2012, , in the framework of the Conference Planet under Pressure, the European Alliance will organize with The Royal Society, a National Committees Day.
