Austria

Austria is a full member National Committee.

The function of the Austrian National Committee of DIVERSITAS is currently fulfilled by the Austrian Platform for Biodiversity Research (Plattform Biodiversität Forschung Austria, BDFA), which is directed by Ass. Prof. Dr Thomas Wrbka and coordinated by Mag. Dr Stefan Schindler and Mag. Sonia Völler.

The BDFA was founded by the Austria Federal Ministry of Science and Research in 2007, and is the Austrian National Platform in the frame of EPBRS, the European Platform of Biodiversity Research Strategies. The main current activity of the BDFA is the preparation and development of the EU FP7 project "Biodiversity Knowledge" (official acronym "KNEU"), which aims at developing a Knowledge Network for EUropean expertise on biodiversity and ecosystem services to inform policy making and economic sectors.
